Any time we turn a door knob, use a wrench to tighten or loosen a blot the, Force produces torque.
However Torque its self is not a force. A force causes something to accelerate or move but torque, causes something to rotate.
When you turn a door handle, you apply force, and the rotation it causes is called Torque.
Torque
Observe the animation to the right. In both cases we are applying the same amount of force, but changing the location where the force is applied.
This changes the amount of Torque generated. A long handle wrench makes unscrewing tight bolts easier, because we increase the torque by moving the applied force further from the turning point.
The Equation for torque is bellow
Torque = Force x Distance from turning point.
This means, to increase torque we can either increase the force applied, increase the distance of the force from the turning point or do both.
