Crude oil takes over a hundred million years to form.
Heat, pressure and bacteria combined to cook the organic material (fossils) under the earth, and form a thick black liquid called Crude Oil.
We can use crude oil to produce things like plastics, artificial food flavourings, heating oil, petrol, diesel, jet fuel, and propane.
In order to get crude oil we need to drill deep into the ground and pumping the liquid out.
When then refine the crude oil and make many different products.
Crude oil must under go a refinement process to be used. We can’t simply put crude oil in our cars or else they wouldn’t work.
The top crude oil producing countries are Russia, Saudi Arabia, and the United States.
