Vinegar, Limes and Vomit.

What do these 3 things have in common?

Acids and Alkali

Vinegar, Limes and Vomit are all acidic.

Your Vomit is particularly acidic. It contains hydrochloric acid. A very strong and dangerous acid. However, without this acid in our stomachs, we would find it very hard to digest food.

Alkalis are the opposite to acids. Soap and toothpaste are alkali.

To determine wether something is acid or alkali, we use an indicator.

pH ranges from 0 (Acidic) to 14 (alkaline). Anything with a pH of 7 is neutral.

The acid in our stomach has a pH of roughly 2.5

Extreme acids and alkalis are extremely dangerous.
When ever you see a chemical in a container, they always have a warning symbol on them.

This lets you know how you should handle this particular chemical.
