Newton’s First law:

the law of inertia

An object at rest will remain at rest unless acted on by an unbalanced force.

An object in motion continues in motion with the same speed and in the same direction unless acted upon by an unbalanced force

Essentially, an object will keep doing, what it is doing (stay stationary or stay in motion) unless an unbalanced force acts on it.

Have you ever been on a roller coaster and felt your head moving the opposite direction to every quick movement.

When it turns left, your head goes right, when it quickly accelerates your head goes back.

Your body is an object like any other. When you sit down in a roller coaster it wants to stay stationary.

Your head goes back because its staying in the same sport but you body is moving forward with the coaster.

When the coaster is in motion going straight, and it suddenly turns left, your head is still going straight, and is pulled left by your body and the coaster.

This is the reason you should always wear your seatbelt in the car. When you’re driving at 60 km/h your whole body is moving at 60 km/h too.

So when you smash into something or the car suddenly stops, if you don’t have you seat belt on, you continue at 60 km/h.
