Rules in the Laboratory

Bellow are a few basic rules to follow in the lab

• Always wear a Lab Coat, safety, gloves and tie long hair back when doing practical work
• Keep your work book and pencils away from lab equipment
• Wash your hands after all experiments
• Light Bunsen burners with matches only, not paper or other materials.
• NO RUNNING
• NO FOOD
• NO SITTING ON BENCHES
• NO SMELLING GASES OR MIXTURES FROM CHEMICALS DIRECTLY
• Place all biohazards material in the biohazard container.

Help I’ve been burnt

1. Immediately run cold tap water on the burn for at least 15 minutes.
2. Tell the teacher
3. Remove nearby clothing, jewellery, watches and rings.
4. Avoid touching the burn area
5. Seek medical attention and keep burn wet and moist.
