Parasite - host food chains

These food chains are different from your normal predator - pray food chains

In this food chain you’ll notice the larger organism (host) is a source of energy for the smaller organisms (parasites).

The life cycle of many parasites is complex. At different stages of their life the turn from larva to adults and in this process they may change hosts.

Thus one species may be linked to multiple food chains.

The video to the right is the malaria parasite.
